Our Story

It all started when…

Studio 71 first opened our doors in Spring of 2017 in the Churton Grove shopping center. With 30 years of experience under his belt our master framer, Lance Sawyers, wanted to create a retail spot, local gallery and bar he could call his own.

A new home

After spotting a 1950’s auto garage available for rent in 2019, we decided to move to our current spot on South Churton street. Lance quickly turned an old building into a new home with a focus on what he loved and creating a unique space in world of custom picrture framing. Converting the space was a massive undertaking but one definitely worth while. The size of our new building allowed us to complete the full framing process here on site. The beauty of a full service location is that your art never leaves our building from the time you drop it off to the time you pick it up.

A building with a personality as big as ours

These days you can still find us at 243 S. Churton Street in the big purple building so many Hillsborough locals have come to love. Our gallery and framing studio is open every Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm. Feel free to stop in any time and see our friendly gang.
